If high heating and cooling costs are the problem, prioritize windows appropriate for your climate with strong energy-efficiency characteristics.

- Solar heat gain
- Frame insulation
- Air leakage
- Installation quality
- Warranty coverage
That last part deserves attention.
A high-performance window installed poorly can still leak air. The window itself matters, but so does the installation.
Replacement Windows Can Be a Long-Term Energy Upgrade
If your energy bills are painfully high, windows probably shouldn’t be blamed automatically. HVAC problems, inadequate insulation, air leaks, ductwork issues, and other factors can also increase heating and cooling costs.
But old, drafty, inefficient windows are absolutely worth investigating.
Replacement windows can help create a tighter barrier between your comfortable indoor space and whatever weather is happening outside.
And that’s really the goal.
